Christmas Week

T'was a busy time here in Islamorada. Lots of families down for the holidays. We enjoyed beautiful warm sunny weather and good fishing.

One of the days I had Luke and Tom Arnold out for a day of flyfishing. We poled the flats for Redfish but they were hard to see and feed a fly to even though we had some good shots. But later in the day we had plenty of action fishing edges of channels for Seatrout on an incoming tide which ate flies greedily. We then anchored up and chummed up a school of Spanish Mackerel and 15 of them fell to the flyrod anglers.. We used Fox Cellmax flyreels and Fox 5 piece 9 weight flyrods for this action.

On another day I had Ben Friedman and John McWard out for a day of Sharkfishing. John caught a large Lemon Shark and Ben caught about the biggest Nurse Shark I have seen. Later in the day we hammered the Blacktip Sharks.  EOS reels and XT Boatrods were used for the big ones and Ben really liked using the Sailfish Trek/Diablo 750 combo.

Mike and Sarah Shaffner spent a day fishing with me on the oceanside patch reefs. A pair of fat Red Grouper were caught on the Bonefish Trek rods fitted with Diablo 350 spinning reels. Many Red Grouper were released. Also caught were Hogfish, a culinary delight, along with Mangrove Snapper and plenty of Key West Porkchops, aka grunts.

I can't say enought about my Fox sport fishing rods and reels. I put them through rigorous tests each and every fishing trip and they keep performing flawlessly.
