Christmas Eve, Fishing of Course!

What a fun day..It was family reunion time for the Bannerot family.

My longtime friend, Captain Scott Bannerot, also an author, joined me with his family. We used 2 boats and were able to raft up most of the day. All in all there were 7 kids.  It was semi-organized chaos with not as many tangles as you would think. These kids have been brought up fishing and it showed.

We spent the day in Florida Bay catching a little bit of everything. Spanish Mackerel were our main target in the morning. And they were biting! At least 30 were reeled in by the kids using Bonefish Trek rods and Diablo reels. We saved some of the mackerel for bait as the crew were keen on catching some Sharks! The Fox Rage Ultralight rods were used as well with the Diablo 350 spinning reels. Along with the Mackerel other species caught included Bluefish, Seatrout, Manrgrove Snapper, Crevalle Jack. It was a busy time with the kids having a Christmas fishing trip they will never forget.

Everyone had a chance to catch a Blacktip Shark during the afternoon. We had a nice breeze and flew the kite with mackerel dangling below as bait. It was full on action. All the Blacktip Sharks were caught using Fox sport fishing XT Boatrods fitted with EOS 50 reels and Horizon Braid.

Scott has written many fishing stories and today we gave him plenty of subject matter for a forthcoming article.
