Tarpon Fishing The Florida Channels

Yes I know.. no fishing reports lately but I have a great excuse. Fishing long hours and lots of 14 hour days. And the Tarpon fishing is holding up.

On Saturday and Sunday April 27,28 Paul and his brother Jim and father Jim Sr. Magidson fished with me for Tarpon.

On Saturday morning we waited through a slack incoming tide catching plenty of nice fat Mangrove Snapper underneath Channel 5 bridge. A nasty north east wind was blowing so we waited for the outgoing tide before moving bay side.

We had plenty of fresh caught live mullet and had plenty of action with the tarpon releasing 3. Paul got his first Tarpon well over 100lbs. Jim Sr. enjoyed catching the snappers. Bonefish Trek rod fitted with Diablo 350's were perfect for the lighter action.

Jim Magidson Sr and son Paul had a
great time catching 3 Tarpon  on Saturday
if you look close you can see Paul's Tarpon getting some serious air

We had 3 release by 8 am and jumped another 3 off
this is the only time this boat was upright rest of the time its on its side
Day 2 Sunday, brother Jim joined Paul and we got out at 6am and the first thing we did was cast our net for mullet in one of the local channels. With a live well  packed with jumping  mullet we headed to Tea Table Channel. We saw tarpon rolling a couple hundred yards away so we moved closer and for and hour it was put a mullet out Jump a Tarpon. What a blast. We ended up catching 4 out of 8. So a great weekend getaway Tarpon fishing trip for the Magidson family.

Paul and Jim fished Sunday with me and
