Beautiful weather and great fishing!

Ray and Leslie Rogers joined me on Monday and Tuesday and their good friends Gary and Phil fished with us on Wednesday. It was simply just perfect. Fish were cooperating everywhere we went.

On the first day we fished out in Florida Bay. Using Fox Bonefish Trek rods and Diablo 350 spinning reels we released and caught over 50 Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish. After the fishing turned on I set Ray up with a Fox 8 Weight Trek Flyrod. He had a blast catching the sizzling fast Spanish Macks.

Phil caught one as well
Ray used the Fox Trek 8 weight Flyrod on this Mackerel
On day two we hit the patch reefs on the ocean side of Islamorada. Seas were 1 to 2 feet with a light northerly breeze. On the first spot a school of juvenile Amberjack showed up and swarmed us. For an hour we threw the flyrod and used Rage Ultralights for lots of crazy action. After they tired of us and us of them the Black Grouper were biting. 15 Blacks were released. We kept a couple of Hogfish which are great eating.

On this day we released over 40 Grouper

We found a spot around mid day that had a big school of Red Grouper. I posted quite a few pictures of Ray and Leslie showing just what the Bonefish Trek travel rods and the Rage Ultralight rods can do. They are the most incredibly tough rods and they are 4 piece and 2 piece. It was really amazing fishing. We released over 40 Grouper by the time we quit and no rods were broken even though I had spooled with 15lb Horizon braided line.

Result a hefty Red Grouper and  zero tackle
failure after applying incredible pressure
After a tough fight with an even tougher
Fox rod, Ray caught this Red Grouper

On day 3 their good friends Gary and Phil joined them and we headed back to Florida Bay and Everglades Park. After a red hot session of Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish we headed over to Sandy Key for a bit of bird watching. The tide was just about full and we anchored close to some mangrove roots. Pitching a few live baits we released a Snook and four Redfish.

And just to add I have been using the same Diablo 350's and Diablo 550's and Diablo 750's for over a year and a half now. I have not had to open one up or redo a drag(clutch). Amazing after what I put these reels through on a daily basis.

Well Ray and Leslie had a wonderful time for sure, a great 3 days.
